93G RED WINS TOURNAMENT!
The 93 Girls Red team played through the mist and rain in Georgetown on the weekend of Feb. 19 – 20 to win first place in the U12 competitive division.  On their way to the championship they played the 93 Lonestars Red team to a 0 – 0 tie, the 93 River City Rangers to a 1 – 1 tie, and the Georgetown Force Blue team to a 3 – 1 victory.  This was enough to earn them a place in the finals against the Lonestars Red team.  The final game was very exciting and well played by both teams, who seemed to raise their level of play several notches for the occasion.  A single score in the second half was enough to win it for the AU Capitals team.  The final score was 1 – 0, in favor of AUC, and the team went home with trophies and high hopes for a successful spring season.  igct

93G BLACK WINS TOURNAMENT!
The AUCSC 93 Girls Black squad took home 1st place honors at the 24th Annual Cy-Fair Valentine's Tournament, February 5-6th in Houston. The team played hard on Saturday, earning the top qualifying spot in the semifinals. They didn't disappoint, notching a hard fought 2-1 victory over a tough West University Express squad. Playing into a stiff wind during the final, the team conceded a 1 goal lead to the Jasper Twisters late in the first half. AUC dominated the second half, getting the equalizer 20 minutes in, but couldn't produce a second for the win. Two exciting overtime periods, extremely hard fought by two very tired squads, ended with the teams still tied 1-1. The championship was decided with a UIL Shootout, a format unfamiliar to both teams. AUC gave up the first goal, but adjusted quickly and "shut the door," as the AUC girls scored 3-in-a-row to take the shootout 3-1 and the championship. Special thanks to Abby (Bob) from the 93 Girls Red who guested with the team for the weekend. Happy Valentine's Day girls, and congratulations! Click here for a picture.
94B NAVY WINS AU*CAPITAL CUP 2005!

90G BLACK WINS STYSA CHAMPIONSHIPS!
The 90G Black team won the fall 2004 STYSA State Championships in Beaumont, Texas.  The girls had quite a season!  In July they learned that they had to qualify to retain their Super II status.  From winning all of their qualifying games, to winning Western District with a 6-1-1 record, to going undefeated and untied at the State Championships, their success was beyond everyone's imagination except for their head coach, Chuck Larosche.  The 90G Black team will now be joining the 90G Navy and 90G Blue teams in USYSNC play this spring.   Congratulations to the girls and coaches on a wonderful soccer season! 91G NAVY WINS ORANGE CLASSIC!
The AU Capitals 91G Navy team traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida December 26 to compete in the 8th Annual Girls International Soccer Orange Classic Tournament. Twenty teams competed at the U-14 level. The AU Capitals advanced from bracket play by defeating CGSA from Colorado and the Florida State Champions, Weston Fury Blue, and by tying the Nova Northstars from Massachusetts. They played a team from Georgia, Tophat Gold, in the Final.

Throughout the tournament, goals were scored by Rachel Houston, Nora Skelton, Lindsay Euers, and Taylor Thigpen, as well as a header by Avery Blasi. The team's formidable defense, lead by goalie Erin Wikelius and defenders Kate Singleton, Chelsea Pace, Lauren Anne Peterson and Kristyn Guilette, is to be credited for keeping the Tophat Gold team scoreless in the championship game. Other team members instrumental in bringing home the gold were Marissa Cerra, Shannon Coats, Lindsay Euers, Dylan Mackie-Hernandez and Ashley Segovia.

Although we dominated the game in the Final, the winning goal was scored in the last five seconds by Nora Skelton, who was also the recipient of the tournament "Most Valuable Player" trophy. Coach Ben Crawley was presented with a championship plaque. Each of the girls received championship gold medals on orange ribbons.

The team returned home December 30, to a thrilled group of supporters at ABIA. They were greeted with a banner, roses, balloons, and teddy bears.

Warmest Congratulations to a truly Championship Team!
