AUCSC HIGH SCHOOL RECREATIONAL 6v6 LEAGUE!
If you are a high school-aged player (Under-15 through Under-18) who would like to play recreational soccer, AUCSC has a new league just for you! AUCSC and other soccer clubs around the area are forming a new recreational 6v6 league just for the High School player.
This is a new and progressive program that will be dynamic and fun. Read on for more details!
Registration Deadline: August 23rd, 2004 Season Starts: September 18th, 2004 Contact For More Information: Bryan Smith or at (512) 442-6166.
Why play 6v6 in recreational soccer?
At the High School level there has always been a lack of places for players to play recreational soccer. Most players at this age are either playing Select soccer, or they aren’t playing at all! In some cases, if there are enough recreational players to form an 11v11 team, the only other teams they can play are Select teams. In other cases, soccer clubs are contacted by only a handful of high school-aged players who would like to play recreational soccer, but not enough to form a full 11-a-side team. If there are only 8 players signed up to play recreational soccer, they are turned away because there aren’t enough players to form a full-sized team. Play games, bike games online.
The new 6v6 league has been designed to provide a place for the recreational player to play soccer with other recreational players in a fun and dynamic environment.
Who will coach our 6v6 team?
You will! During games, the players will manage their own substitutions and play their own game as they see fit! There will be parent managers to assist, but the players will be in charge of their own teams. Club managers will be on hand to help teams manage the game by ensuring that all players play and that games are fair and balanced. Coaching contacts will assist with communications, provide training and help with team management.
Can my friends and I form our own team?
Yes! Send in your registration forms and have all of your friends indicate your team name and the name of the other players you would like to play with.
Will there be practice?
AUCSC will offer training for all players by setting up volunteer coaches with the support necessary to offer training multiple nights of the week in an "open training" environment. 6v6 league participants can practice ANY evening that works for their own schedule. Every practice session is open to every player, so different members of a team may practice on different nights of the week.
Tell me more about these "open practices."
Training sessions will be available that will be hosted by experienced volunteer coaches who will offer training for everyone who shows up for practice. We intend to offer practice every weeknight to accommodate busy High School schedules. Teams are not required to practice together and individual players simply show up for the practice nights that work out the best for their own individual schedules.
Can an individual player sign-up or do I have to have my own team?
Individual players are encouraged to sign-up! We will form teams from all registered players so if you are not forming your own team, you will be assigned to a team by the club.
What if I've never played soccer before?
Then this is the place to start! This is recreational soccer and everyone is welcome to play. 6v6 is a great way to learn how to play. We also offer special training for new players through our Division III Academy and new player skill sessions. New players will be placed on teams with other experienced players where possible.
Who will we play against?
AUCSC 6v6 teams will play against other 6v6 teams from AUCSC and other area soccer clubs. There may be some travel involved to other club field locations.
